How long should the belly button stay a scab after the umbilical cord falls off? My daughters fell off 5 days after she was born and it is still a scab...its been 2 weeks since it fell off... I just need to know if I should worry... Thanks!

Nope, it will fall off on its own. You can put alcohol on it or talk to her doctor and they will put silver nitrate on it.

it shouldnt take long bc my 3rd child was born 2mths ago and hers stayed like that for about a week if im not mistaking but u shouldnt worry it will finally come off when it gets ready just keep putting alochol on it until it does come off

that happened to me, but it took 3 weeks for my daughters to fall off. I was iffy about it. I gave her the first bath (submerging belly in water) and it started to get soft. It looks like it is bleeding. Then i took a q tip and tried to clean around it. When i did that the whole scab came off and it did not affect her at all.

the umbilical cord always scared me, so i was very gentle. It only took about 5 min in water before it came off. Good luck!!!
