Post War Credits I want to reclaim them?

I want to reclaim WW2 post war credits for my mum in law, we found them in a old box while we where sorting out some cupboards, anybody got any ideas.

  1. I thibk the Inand Revenue finished repaying them all perhaps 30 -35 years ago, so your mum in law's may well be worthless.

    Still, it's worth asking!  Not at the Post Office, but at an Inland Revenue office (now HMRC).  Write to HMRC.  If you phone or call in person the chances are the young folk nowadays who answer the phone or talk to visitors will never have heard of them!


  2. I think they are still repaying some of them. It's worth an ask! I think it is South Wales Area which deal with them. You can call them on 0845 300 3949.That's a general number so you might get transferred on. :o)

  3. You have to contact your nearest main Post office for an address to write to about them. They will send you forms back which you fill in and send off. Interest on them is pretty poor.

  4. you can check with HMRC but I am pretty sure they had to be redeemed by 1973
