Question:

Post-op care for a labial frenectomy?

I just a lower labial frenectomy done by laser...and they never gave me a post-op care sheet. I just have a gaping hole where they cut the frenum (not stitched, but not bleeding), and it didn't hurt too much until I ate some pasta with tomato sauce. This was almost 2 hours ago and it still hurts like h**l!! But I don't know if I can brush, what to swish with, etc...what not to eat...I'm totally freaked out, I'm going to take the pain medication they gave me but I really feel it just needs to be cleaned out. I've been rinsing with water but it's only hurting worse and worse.

Any tips??

  1. You shouldn't eat anything but soft mild foods for a bit.  Rinse with warm salt water.  Then leave it alone.  Don't do anything to disturb the healing.  Try drinking warm not scalding tea.
