Post-race press conference Singapore Grand Prix (Part 1)
After a historic race at the Marina Bay in Singapore, Fernando Alonso won the race ahead of Sebastian Vettel and Mark Webber in 2nd and 3rd places respectively. The post-race press conference was expected to be exciting but controversial
at the same time.
Fernando Alonso finished just 0.2 seconds ahead of Sebastian Vettel and scored his second consecutive pole to flag victory. He was very happy with his team’s performance and thought that he had a long race with many problems including the safety car and
some cars he was lapping. The yellow flag because of the Lotus problem made it difficult to manage the gap with the cars in front of him as overtaking was not allowed during the yellow flag time so he had to take many precautions in the last couple of laps.
He was aware that overtaking at the Marina bay is not as easy as it seems so he had to control the gap between him and Sebastian as much as he could and not take any risks in order to secure the win.
Sebastian Vettel pushed Fernando Alonso to the very limit at Singapore and he obviously wanted to take a chance and try his best to go past him. Unfortunately, the German had to let Fernando go as his soft tyres were pretty much done towards the end of the
first stint causing the car to slide a lot. Both of the drivers came in at the same lap. Sebastian was disappointed with himself as he made a little mistake during that pit stop and it would have been very close otherwise.
Vettel tried his best to push Alonso as hard as he could into a mistake but the Spaniard kept his cool, did not make any major mistakes, and as it is difficult to overtake at the Marina Bay, so it would have been too risky and he did not want to risk his
championship chances. The Red Bull driver was satisfied with his car, as it was quick and competitive throughout the weekend but thought that the car missed something during the race. He believes that he improved his start and though the team was making good
progress on that. Sebastian Vettel was happy with his performance in the end as he scored some vital points for himself and the team. However, the German still believes that both constructors and drivers’ title are still very much open.

Mark Webber took his time to talk to the press and said that both of the Red Bulls had a great start and set the base of the race in a better fashion. The early safety car deployment was a disappointment but the pit stop during that time paid off big time later
on in the race keeping in mind it was a very big risk. The Aussie was worried at first during his pit stop but after coming out in a decent position behind the safety car, Mark was satisfied with his decision enabling him to pass some cars until he came behind
the back of Rubens Barrichello’s Williams. Mark praised the Brazilian’s performance and was not able to pass him.
The second restart made it quite difficult however to get away cleanly as the back markers were involved. The Virgin of one of the drivers gave him a tough time and that granted Lewis Hamilton to have a big run at Mark. The Red Bull driver stated that he
had to pass the Virgins as he was in a lot of danger from the British driver Lewis Hamilton. The two championship leading drivers had a contact unfortunately and it was not what Mark intended. However, after that, Webber had a decent ride but was worried about
the bib as it was vibrating quite violently. The championship leader praised Sebastian and Fernando and stated that they drove incredibly well during the whole weekend.
