Post-race press conference Singapore Grand Prix (Part 5)
After an exhilarating night race at the Marina Bay in Singapore, the drivers shared their views about the race from their perspective in the informal and official post race press conference and it seemed that all three of the podium holders were happy and
satisfied with their performance as the championship is heading towards its end. The drivers now had to answer some questions from the floor before they could leave the Marina Bay circuit. The questions from the floor session was relatively longer but it was
interesting to hear what the drivers had to say soon after the floodlit race.
Someone asked the three drivers what they think about the current championship and how they rate their chances of winning the title now after the Singapore Grand Prix. Fernando said that he said before Monza that his chances of winning are fifty percent
and that meant that either he could win or he couldn't. According to the race winner, it depends on how the coming races go. He pointed out that since there are five drivers running for the title currently, each driver has twenty percent chance of winning
the title. Maybe Mark Webber has some edge over the rest of the pack since he is in the front. After Spa, it seemed that Fernando will not be able to make it but now, he is back in the front as much as the rest of the contenders.
People said that this is not a very good championship for Ferrari due to the immense amount of mistakes and all but now, after two races, Fernando is now in 2nd place in the drivers’ standings just 11 points behind Webber. This goes to show that
anything can happen in this season so we should keep out minds open for everything. The teams will need to concentrate and keep their cool as the chances for the top five drivers are almost the same. In order to come on the top, the drivers will have to avoid
silly mistakes and try to finish every race. Fernando vowed that Ferrari will keep its momentum in Japan as well.

Alvaro Faes from La Nueva Espana asked Alonso if he is convinced and concerned about winning this year’s championship. The Spaniard shed light on the fact that the Formula 1 championship is even longer than a football league and it is impossible to
stay a hundred percent physically and mentally fit at every race. It is not easy to stay fit, focused and motivated for 9 months at every venue so the teams have their moments and this is quite normal in Formula 1. Nevertheless, the race winner believes that
he is at his peak in the current season and was glad to be in his comfort zone. The 2 time world champion stated that he was getting tired during the September races due to the long flights. This year has been different in every aspect and the Spaniard felt
happy to go to Japan as he feels that the championship has just started.
Michael Schmidt asked Mark about his concerns regarding the stewards investigation after the Hamilton incident. Webber admitted that Hamilton was certainly a little bit ahead of him and the incident was a replica of what happened at Monza between Felipe
and Lewis. It is hard to notice that the British driver was even there until the contact as he was quite a long way back and came quickly. These sort of things happen in motor racing as the drivers try to brake completely on the limit. According to Webber,
it was definitely very tough and they did not hit so hard. However, it was enough to put Hamilton out of the race. Webber was happy that he survived and continued to finish in a strong place.
