Post-race press conference Singapore Grand Prix (Part 6)
The conversation continued in its orderly and interesting manner. The reporters were quite curious especially after listening to what Mark Webber had to say after the Singapore grand prix earlier during the questions from the floor session after the informal
and official press conferences. Fernando Alonso, Sebastian Vettel and Mark Webber were trying to portray the race from their perspective and wanted to clear everything from their sides regarding the entertaining and controversial Singapore Grand Prix at the
Marina Bay.
The drivers continued taking questions from the reporters and one asked the current championship leader his reason for changing his tyres so early. The Aussie was also surprised, as he did not believe that he could go faster than Lewis at the Marina Bay.
Mark said that he kept asking the team about the gap that he was building on Rubens Barrichello and Robert Kubica as he could see them behind him.
However, he was not able to spot Jenson Button behind him either. Then the team confirmed that it was Lewis and the Aussie took a sigh of relief. After this, the championship leader realized he was losing a lot of time to the cars behind him and that would
mean that the leaders were getting further away. Mark spotted the gap between him and Fernando on the big screen on the track and that was probably the best result he could achieve in these conditions. Webber was happy that his strategy and everything worked
out very well.
Another reported had another question for the championship leader regarding Lewis Hamilton’s ambitions at this point. Mark believed that they had to go with it as he saw it was very difficult for him to clear the Virgins. It is not easy to take control after
the restart with the backmarkers in the middle from the guy in the front that was his case. Lewis had a great run on the championship leader but the corner he tried to make a move on was the only corner where overtaking was possible. The Aussie told the reporters
that this was the same corner where he and Fernando made contact last year. Things become very difficult at the Marina bay after a restart, as the track gets very congested. Obviously, both of the drivers did not want to make contact but it just happened.
Fredric Ferret from L’Equipe wanted Fernando to rat his Ferrari for the last four races of the season. The Spaniard thought that some of them will suite the Ferrari better than the McLarens and the Red Bulls better but the team still needs to get the maximum
out of their car. Team Ferrari is aware that they might be on pole sometimes and sometimes they will be in third place. The team can do nothing about it. It is hard to stay focused about every race as they are very different from each other. The pace at the
Singapore Grand prix in the qualifying and race was very good so the team does not have to worry about anything for the coming tracks and they will have to be prepared for every track. The two-time world champion found it difficult to tell which tracks but
he was sure that Ferrari will have a tough time and so will their rivals.
On the other hand, Sebastian Vettel was thinking about something completely different as he thought Red Bull was looking very strong. “We are Red Bull, we are in a unique position again this year and we are horny - can you say that in English or does it
not make too much sense? I think we have a very good chance. Obviously Korea is coming up which is unknown, no one knows. Other than that, if you look at Japan, Brazil and Abu Dhabi, I think we have a very strong car”, he said.
It will be interesting to see what the teams come up with for the coming races and the questions from the floor session was getting even better as the drivers continued to answer the questions from the reporters.
