Question:

Post-study permit question?

Hi. I am thinking of applying for a post-study tier 1 visa to work in the UK. However, it can take about 14 weeks to process my application and by then, my current student visa would have expired. Does anyone know what happens if I they have my passport and my visa expires? Or maybe is there a way to get them to speed up my application? Thanks.

  1. If u apply before expiry of ur student visa then its no obligation upon you as far as they acknowledge that they have received your application before expiry.

Even if your Tier 1 is refused ur visa will be extended for 28 days to give u enough time to leave UK.

    Good luck.

  2. Hi Roast Chicken

I can confirm Prince Pauper's advice that you do not have to worry about a decision being issued after your visa expires as long as you have submitted the application before your student visa expiry date.  If you have a Post Study Work visa application outstanding at the Home Office after your student visa expiry date you will still have valid leave to remain until a decision comes through.
