Question:

Post traumatic stress from a traumatic delivery of my 5 month old. Will it ever go away?

I had an anxiety attack when I had an epidural with my 5 month old son. Now after, I still suffer major anxiety and panic attacks. I'm having flashbacks and it is soooo scary. Will this ever go away? I'm taking St. John's Wort. I'm looking to talk to a counselor. I'm still breastfeeding my son and I don't want to take or get hooked on xanax.

Anyone have any thoughts?

  1. I would first and foremost figure out what made having an epidural so scary for you.  For me I have a major fear of needles (it has gotten a lot better now that I know why I'm terrified of them) and when they show me the needle I pass out or worse.  Once you have established why it was so scary you can usually handle it a lot better than before because you understand the fear and where it comes from.  It worked for me right after my daughter was born.

  2. st. john's wort is probably not very good for anxiety.
