Postage for a postcard?

Well, I bought a postcard when I was at the beach, and I want to mail it. The postcard says on the bottom, in pencil, 79 cents... was that the cost of the postcard or the postage? Ah! I've never mailed anything before. Go ahead and laugh.

If distance matters, it's going from Northern VA to Germantown, MD.

postcards don't weigh anything so u just have to buy a stamp

If it's a standard size postcard 6" x 4.5" or smaller), it will cost 27 cents to mail.

The 79 cents must have been the price you paid for the postcard.
