Postal collection boxes - why are they on the passenger side of the street, not the driver's side?

the postal collection boxes --not private mailboxes in front of one's house., but where one drops off mail in a large blue US Postal Service collection box on a street or in a public parking lot.

Because they're on the curb and the passenger side is also on the curb - maybe you've noticed?

It's a small inconvenience to have to scoot over to the passenger side to drop a letter off.

If you don't like it, park and walk back to the drop box and post your letter through the sidewalk side.

When I have to post a letter I drive through a lane at the PO that has a drop box on the driver's side.

It would have to be a one way street to be on drivers side.

Think for a moment about your question. Would you want postal delivery vehicles driving on the wrong side of the road?

they would be in the middle of the road if they were on the drivers side

I dont know where you live but the ones that you are talking about in out hometown are on the drivers side........
