Postal collection boxes - why are they on the passenger side of the street, not the driver's side?

the postal collection boxes --not private mailboxes in front of one's house., but where one drops off mail in a large blue US Postal Service collection box on a street or in a public parking lot.

  1. Because they're on the curb and the passenger side is also on the curb - maybe you've noticed?

    It's a small inconvenience to have to scoot over to the passenger side to drop a letter off.

    If you don't like it, park and walk back to the drop box and post your letter through the sidewalk side.

    When I have to post a letter I drive through a lane at the PO that has a drop box on the driver's side.


  2. It would have to be a one way street to be on drivers side.

  3. Think for a moment about your question. Would you want postal delivery vehicles driving on the wrong side of the road?

  4. do a U-Turn and back up,,,,,,,( suggestion is for smiles only )

  5. they would be in the middle of the road if they were on the drivers side

  6. I dont know where you live but the ones that you are talking about in out hometown are on the drivers side........
