Postal orders? please help!?

I'm new to postal orders, and i'm trying to buy something on ebay with one. But the thing i'm trying to buy is in England, and I live in Ireland. Can I buy sterling postal orders at my local post office? Or is there anyway I can pay for the item without a bank account or credit card?

It's all so confusing, please help!

Not sure about postal orders in Ireland. Check with them.

But I think, any banks would do a money order or a bank draft in a foreign currency and have you pay with your local currency.

I can bet, if a merchant takes postal orders, he would more willingly take a money order or a bank draft.
