Posting A letter from America, Chicago, To England?

My friend is posting a letter from Chicago in America to here, England, basically all he did was put a few stamps on it & posted it in a mail box, it doesn't weight over 10g so I was just wondering how long it will take to get here?

It's normally a week if they take it to the post office but it can take over a month otherwise.

I used to live in America and someone posted a letter from England with only a first class stamp on it.... it got there but it took 5weeks. I figure its the same sort of deal America to UK.

I've had stuff mailed to me from the States and it usually takes about a week if it is Airmail.  If it is ship mail it probably takes a couple of weeks maybe even three or four.
