Question:

Postpartum--- Irregular Period????

Ok, I had my son 2 1/2 months ago. I had postpartum bleeding for about 5 weeks. Then at about 7 weeks or so I got my period, it lasted my regular 5-6 days.

My dr put me on the "mini pill", because I am pumping but also starting to supplement with formula. I was due for my period a few days ago. Could I be pregnant or does your period generally stay irregular for awhile? Should I call my dr to get on regular birth control pills since I am starting to wean my son over to formula?

Sorry if I my question is running, just a bit nervous!!!!!!

  1. Well If you are no longer gonna breastfeed you have no need for the mini pill anymore and can switch to the regular birth control pill if you feel like it.About the periods I never did have a regular one Tell My first Baby was 8 Months Old.If you we're having safe s*x though before you did start the pill chances are you are not pregnant again and its just a side effect from 1 just having a baby or 2 just starting on the Mini pill.

  2. Maybe do a pregnancy test just to be sure. It isn't wise to go to the combination pill until after you have stopped giving breast milk entirely, but once you have stopped it will help dry the milk up, which is why you shouldn't take it while trying to breast feed or express and bottle feed.

I breastfed my son and didn't get a period until he started having solid foods, then it was still completely irregular. Don't be to concerned unless that test comes up positive.

  3. I would call the doctor just to be safe and to get on regular birth control.

    Good luck.
