Question:

Postpartum stitches hanging with white tissue?

It's been a 9 days since giving birth and I noticed today that a piece of stitching is hanging about 4 inches down between my legs. The stitching is coated in an off white colored material (possible skin tissue??). It looks almost like very thing chicken fat or chicken skin type material. It stretches when i try to spread it to look at it. I tried to slightly tug on the stitch to see if it was almost out, but it didn't budge and I didn't want to pull too hard.

Is this normal? What is it? Are my stitches even supposed to be coming out yet?!?!

This is my third child but I've never had stitches before....

PLEASE HELP!!

  2. Call your OB/GYN and tell them what you are experiencing if she/he finds this unusual they will let you know what to do next.  Congratulations on the birth of your new baby.

  3. oh my. you better see gyno asap!

  4. When is your post-op visit? Call and reschedule to be seen earlier.

  5. It depends on where the stitch originated. But you shouldn't tug on it no matter what! Call your Dr. and get it evaluated asap, if you had a c-section  i would go to the ER. If you didn't try and not worry, it is most likely extra stitching material that would have dissolved if it hadn't come loose somehow.
