  1. it's a weed, so water it before it dries out too much..

as for light, it depends on how far along it is.. but for best results it should have at least 12 hours of light a day - but too much direct sunlight might burn the leaves of any plant so keep an eye on it for the first week, if it doesn't change much then it's fine..

  2. Some plants are meant for full sun, some for part sun (4 hrs a day) and some for shade. This will decide where you keep them. If you had them inside the house already, then they can live in shade. Keep them in a place that is bright but shady. In fact many plants will do ok in a bright, shady place.

Watering control is easy. Water when the top of the potting soil or mix is jut dry to feel. Generally the risk of over watering is less when the plant is outside since the excess water evaporates.

  3. Water them as needed.  The smaller the pot, the more water they will need.  As far as sun, give them as much as they'll take (and mabye even bring them inside for a few hours extra).  You see, the summer solstice is passed, therefore, the days are now getting shorter.  Any plant whcih is dependant on photoperiodism (flowers in response to day-length shortening), will do this.  So, don't be surprised if your small plant starts flowering at a young age.

Basically, water them once a day (if the diameter of the pot is less than 6").  Bigger pots can most likely take a "day-off" from water and will actually benefit from a drying period.

West Coast is drier and less humid than East coast- so depending on where you are- you may have to water more/less.

  4. I allow mine to "almost" dry out and then add more water.  Not to the point it is gushing out of the holes on the bottom, just enough to give it a good drink.  Sunlight depends on what type of plant you have.  They put a little stick inside stating the plant and what kind of sun it likes.  If it says "full sun" then at least six hours a day.

  5. whats you street address ? we can send a handbook to you

  6. A minimal drink per day allowing for evaporation.

If I may make a suggestion, tie red light bulbs to your plant and the cops will think it's a tomato plant.

    Good Luck
