Potato planting?

i live in the north of the uk and want to know the following

1.can i plant potatos for a successful crop at this time of year

2 if so what is the best variety to plant

3 what type of fertiliser should i use

  1. You are probably too and quit honestly when you have lost the early potato growing main pots are so cheap it is probably as well buying a bag saying that  you can try growing an early variety or a very high yielding potato then harvest them early I think desiree would be a good bet also maris piper one of the things I am going to try this year is growing some in pots probably desiree and see if I can have new potatoes for christmas of course they will have to be kept from frost and given as much daylight as possible fertiliser a 20-10-10 or 15-30-30 for growth and formation


  2. ur best off buyin spuds that are startin to sprout just stick them in ground and water they will grow well we did that last yr got good crop o/h thought he had got all the spuds last yr didnt realise he had left some in the ground we got another crop this yr without doin nethin.

  3. Scottish seed potatoes,

    Yes you can.

    none required,Just water.

    Bought mine at local market.

    Also sold at b&q.
