  1. Picking up stuff left lying around by drug addicts and used contraceptives.

  2. Need to do a risk assesment - depends on age of students and what ratio of adult to child depending on age. Need to factor in any dangers ie location of litter pick. Is it on road side with danger from traffic or is it on private property and enclosed from vehicles. Are there other hazards ie streams etc. What sort of litter is likely to be found? Will it be paper or perhaps broken glass or cans with sharp edges. Will gloves need to be provided and will the students need guidance as to what litter not to approach - syringes etc. Sometimes your local council can assist with litter pick equiptment you can borrow and with advice.

  3. if its hot  make  sure they  are  protected with  sun cream  and  for them  to    drink plenty of  water    and  of course  a  comfortable  pair of  shoes  would  help !!

  4. All sorts of infections from Aids to an upset tummy if you do not take the correct safe guards, first of all how old are the "students" , make sure that they collect any litter with grabbing sticks or at least rubber gloves and warn them about the dangers of picking up hypodermic syringes and needles also to be careful not to cut themselves on old can tops etc, and if they do to get immediate care. It is a nice idea but can turn bad very easily.

  5. they start eating the litter?

  6. strangers approaching

    students walking off

    picking up needles

    falling over
