Potential surprise losses or upsets at RG?

so now that we all have proclaimed our faves to win, many times over, who are the players that might be beaten early?

somehow,i am not overly confident about serena's chances,as some are....i mean she did get beaten by safina at berlin and certainly faces that obstacle once she gets pitted against a more nature clay courter. and she did withdraw last week in rome citing injury and although she said it wouldn't hinder her chances we have heard it before.

ana ivanovic-she hasn't been playing well. she's lost 3rd or less in both her tournaments leading up so she's not all that confident.

svetlana kuznetsova-like ana,she hasn't done well in her clay campaign.

venus williams

anna chakvatadze-(not a complete surprise per se but she will be a top seed)

daniela hantuchova

nadia petrova-(although she is in a slump, she has a nice clay history and would be surprising if she went out soon considering her comfort level)

  1. I think probably the biggest surprise upset will be Ivanovic because she played brilliantly at RG last year, but I honestly don't think she will do well this year, she's not playing very well so far in the clay season. Another upset will be Sharapova allot of people are thinking she will win the French now that she's number 1 and they forget the fact that she's horrible on clay, but she might be able to make a run depending on the draw, but if she runs into Serena at any point, Serena will destroy her. Other losses will probably be Kuznetsova, her clay court play hasn't been very well so far. I'm also thinking maybe Venus will probably go out in a later round, though she's been to the finals, and she's won the french in doubles twice and she has 7 clay titles, the last one being in 2005, I see her probably exiting in the 3rd or the quarters , though I can't help but hope I may get to see another Williams sister final, but clay is not Venus' best surface.

  2. ivanovic could be one... also either or both williams sisters could also be an upset..

maria, i think she could go into the QF or SF... as well as jelena

safina, dementieva, cornet, and zvonareva could reach higher rounds...

bartoli could also lose in the early rounds...

  3. Ivanovic definitely has a chance of losing in an early round, so does Chakvetadze

Hantuchova has an injured foot and probably will withdraw, but if she did play she would lose early

Petrova's slump is terrible and she will lose early

Vaidisova is struggling too and it wouldnt be surprising if she lost early

  4. serena venus vaidisova bartoli petrova...

    hantuchova....

sharapova might be one of them( i hope not) because she is very inconsistent sometimes... i love maria but i am upset in her performance sometimes...

    but GO MARIA!!!.

  5. I agree that Ivanovic could end up being the biggest upset in the early rounds.  As much as I like her, though, I'm not quite sure Sharapova cannot be upset early.  Venus is definitely a possibility of an upset.  I also think Bartoli, who is in the top 10 again could again be upset in the early rounds.

Safina, on the other hand, just like Petrova and Chakvetatze can end up being both a positive suprise and go all the way, or a negative and lose early.
