I have a potterton netaheat electronic boiler problem. When boiler is switches on, it ignites and heats up normally for 2 or 3 minutes and then switches off. The pilot light switches off as if the gas supply has been switched off. Pump is working ok, heating control is working ok, and thermostat is working ok

What is the problem with my boiler? How can I fix the problem?

Can you help? Please

  1. This is a guess, but new boiler systems also have a damper control that opens when boiler ignites, and closes when boiler shuts off (during normal cycling).  If the damper is not working, this is a possible problem.  You would see wires and a small solenoid that is hooked up to the flue (exhaust piping to chimney) It operates a vent in the pipe.  It will immediately open when the boiler "fires up" and closes when it goes off...if it does not open, the system will shut down immediately,  (Probably in your two minute time frame.)

If this is the problem, my next guess would be something possibly blocking the vent .  A bird, perhaps.

  2. you need to contact a corgi registered gas fitter for a repair

  3. you'll have to get a man in, com bi boilers are rubbish and are nothing but trouble, not that a heating engineer will tell you this as they get a big percentage of their money repairing them.

  4. Its the overheat sensor - its shuts down as a fail safe.

The system is getting too hot (not circulating?) or the system thinks its getting too hot

  5. The fault could lie with one of several components, fault finding guides are normally located in appliance manuals to aid qualified engineers.
