Is there any law concerning potty training for students in Pre-Kindergarten in Texas? I have a student that is still in pull-up diapers who is unable to communicate and today my principal told me I should take every opportunity to potty train him. I'm near the end of my rope as he is having a negative affect on my other students, and now I've been asked to do what his mother won't! Is this legal?

  1. yes it is legal to potty train him as long as you have the mothers permission of course

  2. If the child has severe communication delays he probably is classified ad disabled. You would be violating the law by refusing to keep him in your class but you could ask for an aide for him. How do you know his mother won't potty train him? Maybe his disability has made it difficult and she needs advice. If you are this intolerant of a child with problems I wonder if teaching is an appropriate profession for you.
