Okay all the mommys out there..tomorrow is the first day i will be taking my son out with out wearing diapers or a pull up...IAM A WRECK! i know it has to be done .He wears his underwear in the house and never has an accident, he never poops on himself, since he was 18 months, and he pees while standing, he seems more then ready to me, but the thought of him having an accident scares me..lol.Were going to be at his dental app. so there is going to be a toilet close by. The train ride is 40 min. What do i need to bring, besides a change of clothes. What do i do..lol...im just clueless. Your stories, methods, words of encouragement, please anything.

  1. change of clothes and underwear of course and wipes to clean him up if he does have an accident. and depending on how long you will be out I would limit his fluids so he doesn't have a accident

  2. Keep in mind that potty training is a process.  If he has an accident it's no big deal.  Just ask him frequently if he needs to go potty (when they're in new places they tend to be too distracted to think about going potty)  More than likely, if you keep reminding him he'll tell you when he has to go and you'll make it to the potty just fine.  If not, that extra change of clothes will come in handy.

  3. Why don't you wait until the day after tomorrow.  Choose a day that you won't be running around, and you can stick pretty close to home so that if he has an accident it won't be as bad!

Good Luck.  I remember that day and all I could think of was PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE don't let her pee in the car seat :-)

    He'll do fine....

  4. You need to change the day that he goes out without a pull up. Running errands where you have to stand in long lines, go to appointments and sit in cars or trains for more then a few minutes is just a set up for problems when he has to go potty. For some people going to the dentist can be a bit traumatic  and he will be out of his comfort zone. When taking him out you need to make sure that you can get him to the potty on a moments notice so he doesn't have to wait and very possibly have an accident.

  5. Maybe you should choose a day that's not so busy to make the switch.
