  1. I have been using the potty chair to start then having him sit on the potty to get used to it. We use a timer set every 30 minutes to tell him it is time to go try if he goes we reset it another 30 if not it gets set for 15 minutes till he goes. It will take a while but soon he got the idea of telling us he had to go. Once they are at that stage we introduce the game of standing to pee we use cheerios as a target to "shoot at" it is a fun way to get the little boys to aim properly so there is less of a mess to clean when they are bigger. Also I found a little trainer urinal for boys on ebay for $20.00 so that when he gets the standing at home down I won't have to worry about him being scared of the big urinals when we go somewhere.

  2. I did until my son learned how to pee. THen I trained him out side. I would tell him to pee on a tree or soemthing. It made it fun for him.

but after that he stands up to pee. I have big opinions on boys peeing like boys and not like little girls. But then again my son who is four, does really good with lifting up the seat and going potty like a big boy.

  3. I have two boys who are 10 and 13 now and I did have them sit on a potty chair and then, they also as they got a little older, used one of those things you can put on a regular toilet so they can sit on it better. I cannot remember what they are called though.

  4. It helped my sons to potty train standing up.  They could see what was happening and connect what they saw with what they felt.  I researched and found a very safe and very sturdy stool with sides for the toilet so they could hold on standing or sitting.  http://www.amazon.com/Elite-Child-Corpor...

They loved using a real toilet and they potty trained right away.  This stool made all the difference and was well worth it.  Hope this helps.

  5. ok if your first starting, take your son to the store and have him pick out a potty training seat. *this will make himfeel more comfortable)

then i agree with the the person who sets a timer. i used to do that with my son. (also i had put no undies or pullups on him for the first two weeks

ok i suggest start him off on the potty training in the day time first, until he gets used to it.  at night time tick a pullup on him, but keep bringing him to the potty up until like 2 in the morning. then after a week of that just switch him into regular undies.

after i would say a couple of weeks, (or depends on how quickly the child learns) the boy will be potty trained.

what i mentioned befre is what i did with my son, and it only took me 2wks. and hes ready for preschool in sept.

oh and also to answer the question, first have him sit on the potty, let him get used to it. and if you think or if hes ready have him start peeing standing up right. also in babies r us they have those rings the are bio degradable and flushable. when he needs to go pee put one in and tell him to aim for it, it could also be used as a game to try and pee in the ring. lol

    good luck
