Question:

Potty training help!?

My 3 1/2 year old son does a great job of going on the toilet, however he prefers sitting down to pee. The problem is it shoots straight through the gap between the seat and the toilet bowl, leaving a huge puddle on the ground. I want to encourage him to keep "aiming down", but am wondering if anyone knows of a product out there that I could buy that guards the gap in the toilet, so it doesn't get out onto the floor?

  1. He needs to watch a man urinate so he knows how it's done. He'll be laughed at at school if he doesn't learn soon.

  2. Those little potty seat rings, the ones that go on the "big potty"  have little cups that go on the front that catch the pee. Good luck!

EDIT- or have him stand and aim at a cheerio you've put in the toilet.

  3. I just told them to point their pee-pee down.  I did this every time they went to the bathroom.  Soon enough there were no more "accidents" on the floor.  Have him stand from time to time until he gets used to it.  He will prefer it and so will you because you will not have to be there for every pee.  He will be able to do it himself. Yeah!

  4. saran wrap and tape

  5. Have him face the wall when he is peeing. This way the whole for the toilet is then bigger so more of the pee will go in the bowl instead of on the floor. Also, he will be facing this way when he starts standing up to pee, so might as well get him used to it now.
