My niece is 21 months old and tells us when she has to go potty. She'll take off her diaper, pull her pants down, sit on her potty for a minute, then stand up and pee on the floor! Happens every single time. What's going on?

  1. keep her on the potty until she has been. she obviously wants to go, so keep her there til she does. shes just confused

  2. just a timing issue. do what people above say.

  3. keep her on the potty a little longer.  maybe even run the faucet it may help her go a little quicker

  4. She knows she has to go but her timing is just off. She thinks potty is a toy and gets her attention, but she is still to young to understand the sensation. Once she can combine the two she will know the sensation means pee time and she will be able to go in the potty on cue. Try reading a book to her when she is going on the chair so she will relax and let it flow. Then clap and dance at her success! She will then realize when she goes in this potty chair she gets you to do a funny dance and will want to go again.

  5. Sounds like a timing issue, with some lack of control still.  She's close, though - just keep trying and she'll get it, probably very soon.  She's still a bit young to really understand that the goal is to have all the pee and p**p land in the potty..... but she sounds very smart, she'll be in undies full time soon.  :)
