  1. It is one of the richest countries in Europe though. I suspect that most of the 10 million "poor people" must be located in the former Eastern Germany, which struggles to get where the  rest of the country is economically. You must take in consideration that Eastern Germany has only been freed  from communism less than 2 decades ago. It takes a while to recover from that.

  2. TRUE

  3. Yes.

And Eastern Germany's problems can not all be blamed on communism (even though the Russians did bleed the place) because east Germany always was a poor and backward agricultural area.

German wealth before the world wars was concentrated in the west close to France and that has never changed.

  4. Yes, its true but there are more no of poor people around the world. How can anyone ignore them. There are so many people everywhere in need of help. At this juncture of time, it becomes our duties to contribute to the betterment of the poor and hence of the society. I came across a community http://www.orkut.co.in/Community.aspx?cm... which is about the United Nations' campaign to End Poverty by 2015. The campaign revolves around 8 major goals which, if accomplished, would ensure eradication of poverty.

  5. TRUE,

but this has nothing to do with East or West Germany. Poor people living in both parts of the country. Yes, in East Germany are probably the most unemployed people, the problem was that after the fall of the wall a lot of factories had to close, but in West Germany are poor people too. Some of them have jobs and are still poor because they get only the minimum paid. What I can't understand that there is still an unvisitable border between East and West Germany. The wall fall in 1989, next year it will be two decades, come on it is one country and not anymore East and West Germany.
