Hi there,

I'm not sure if this was there when i bought it back in march, but i lifted my bonnet up the other day, and there was like powdery black stuff around the pipe into my power steering and on the resivour. My mum describes it as looking like carban? I've topped up the power steering as it was below min, but i hope my power steering isn't leaking? I have a long journey to go on in the next few days and im worried now! i'm not working till september so cant get it looked at before i go as i have no money for a while. Any ideas what this is? and is it safe?

  1. all you can do for a car is check the fluids and make sure its in its best shape one can provide..... thing that brother me is you got it in march but just now lifting the hood which is one step you should have done before buying it.. i have no ideals.. but to say you must check the car out more than every few months if not its not going to last a long time if you dont learn to check things more.. if all the fluids are good and the tires are ok drive it

  2. The lid may have wept a little, dust will stick to that like a magnet. Just keep an eye on it, but if it's not dripping on the ground I wouldn't worry about it.

  3. lol

  4. the power steering on my motorcycle leaks too.
