Power Cord Help!?

Question

I'm buying a 3000watt amp with subs from a friend. He told me the 8g power cord wire I have isn't going to cut it. What guage wire should I pick up? What other things would I need to install it?

buy an 1/0 guage wiring kit. comes with all u need, unless u have 2 amps and need a distirbution block. tis like 100 bucks though

the peak and/or max wattage numbers mean nothing at all- all you care about is the RMS wattage and how far the run is

i recommend going one size larger than recommended so that if you choose to upgrade in the future you don't have to remove the old wires, it more time/cost effective
