Power Horse World Team Cup will feature three Top-10 players – Tennis News
Power Horse World Team Cup officials are delighted to have a very strong line up for the tournament that is scheduled to be contested from 20-26 May later this year. The tournament will be contested at the Rochusclub in Dusseldorf
that is one of the most famous sporting arenas of the world.
The field features three players that are recently ranked in the Top-10 players of the world. One of them is the boyfriend of the Lucie Safarova, Tomas Berdych. He will be joined in by the eighth ranked Serb, Janko Tipsarevic,
and the American prolific tennis ace, Mardy Fish, will be the third seeded player that will contest in the tournament.
Another big name that will take part in this tournament is the former world number one and Fish’s compatriot, Andy Roddick. He will return to the arena after the gap of six years; last time he played at Dusseldorf in 2006.
The defending champion of this tournament are also the hosts of the tournament; Germany. The confirmed representatives for the hosts include Florian Mayer, Philipp Kohlschreiber and Philipp Petzschner. They will look to make a
successful defence of the title. However, they are up against world class squads that will make their life very difficult for sure.
"Last year’s Power Horse World Team Cup win was, together with my season’s highlight when I won the ATP tournament in Halle, my second major success in 2011," declared Petzschner. "I always love playing in Düsseldorf with the team.
We want to repeat last season’s great performance and defend our title successfully. It certainly won’t be easy in such a high class field but we’ll do our best."
The Japanese side will be led by the stunning performer of last year, Kei Nishikori. It will be the debut appearance for a Japanese side. They will join in the teams of Croatia, Russia and Argentine. The team from Argentina is
probably going to be the toughest of all considering the variety and versatility in their players. They are going to be the biggest threat for the German squad.
Tournament Director, Dietloff von Arnim said, "We’re looking forward to welcoming the Japanese. Who knows, perhaps it’ll be almost like a home game for them with the large Japanese community here in Düsseldorf." It is definitely
going to be a very enthralling and entertaining tournament; hopefully will catch viewership from all across the globe.
