  1. was powerpc the ibm/motorola chip  used to use?

  2. PowerPC is a processor.  If you purchased your Mac any time after 1997, you have a PowerPC processor or better.

    EDIT: Sorry for such a slow update to my response.  That is a bit strange.  The Sims 2 is a relatively recent game, right?  It's odd that it would not allow you to use the files you have downloaded. I've never used the Sims 2, so I'm afraid this is as far as I can help you.  The straight-out answer is, that if you want a PowerPC, you must purchase a non-Intel Mac (G3, G4, or G5).  There is almost certainly a way to get those files working on your computer though, so don't go out buying a new computer just because of that error message. I assume you are trying to install some kind of fan-made mod, so the best advice I can give you, is to either ask at the developer's website if you can, or at the Video Games section of Yahoo! Answers.  I know that there are many Sims 2 players there who will be better able to help.

    @Michele C:

    That's correct.  The PowerPC, G3, G4 and G5 were all IBM-Motorola/Freescale chips in Apple computers.

  3. Your macbook cannot use the Power PC processor because macbooks use intel. You can't switch to Power PC now. Could I ask if you're using the universal version of The Sims 2?
