Im in a volleyball camp and I was assigned "Power" as my position.

Could someone please give me the basics for this position and it would really help if someone could explain the rotations and switched?

Thanks:)

  1. Power is the name for "outside hitter".

Rotation would be the same (clockwise).

Switch would be your coach's call, but the bottom line is when you are in front row you need to get to your "base", which is the left front hitting position as soon as possible. So when your team is serving, you should switch as soon as the server contacts the ball; when your team is serve-receiving, you may switch if you are not within the range of the ball's landing, or you may switch after the ball goes back to your opponent's side (which is when it would be your coach's call).

If your team is playing at a high level and your back row players also get switched, you should switch to left side behind the 10-ft line and get ready to hit "pipe" (or the code that is to hit from the back row).
