Power Source Affect ADSL Signal?

Question

When i plug the power adapter of ADSL modem into a power extension socket, the modem takes more than half an hour to get the ADSL light stable. But when i plug it into my AVR, the light becomes stable in less than 1 minute. Why is this happening?

First thought would be a dirty power source, which also can cause other electrical problems in the house/apartment.

A dirty power source can damage equipment, get it checked and ensure you have clean or reasonably clean power.
