Power Steering pump replacement doesn't match the one I took off the car?

I bought a power steering pump for my 1994 Nissan Sentra at a salvage yard. The part I got doesn't exactly match the one I took off. Here are some pics of the two...the one on the right is the salvage part.

They are similar where they mount and the hose connections are the same size, but the pump is too small for the pivot bolt by about 1/4 inch. (it slides back and forth on it) If I put washers on it to take up the extra space, will that be okay. I have the feeling that it's not going to be stable enough and it might kick off the belt.

  1. no don't install that with washers it could cause you more problems than you know but then againn it could work perfect its a risk that iwouldn'tt  take , but im sure if you kept  (if they gave you one) it will be easy otherwise most of the time yocan talk em into it... but anyways next time i would be a little more prepared go in with a make model year  and part number or simply just a picture or two from you camera

  2. take it back and tell the man. better yet, take yours with you and match it up with another 1.

  3. try takin it back and askin if they have one simmilar to the one you have, but i ask myself why dont you just get a new one.
