I have a Husqvarna 61 serial no. 1611 110422. I have pulled the plug out and with the high tension wire connected, holding the plug against the cyl. head, turning the saw over with the recoil and there is no spark. I replaced the plug and still no spark.
The saw has good compression with the spark plug installed and there is no problem with fuel or air.
I need to know if the coils are the problem. I'm not sure how to test them or what the resistance values should be. The windings don't seem to be open because I get a reading of a certain ohms value (although I can't remember what they are right now). This model is an older one and has two coils installed on either side of the flywheel. One coil is connected to the On - Off switch and to the one side of the opposite coil. The other coil is connected to the spark plug lead and the other lead to the coil just mentioned.
I've done a little searching for parts. There are two different coil assemblies available from Husqvarna - Part No. 501516201 and Part No. 501516102. I'm not sure which one to use.
If you could help me sort this out I would be grateful.
Thank You,
Randy
