Question:

Power adapter for Cuba?

by  |  earlier

I'm going to Cuba for a week, and I want to bring my hairdryer. I know that some newer hotels don't require power adapters, but I think the one that I'm going to does. So, what sort of converter would I need, if I'm coming from North America? And does anyone know what sort of store would stock it, in southern ontario?

  1. CAA travel shops have adaptors and converters. Which resort are you going to? Different resorts have different requirements. Maybe your dryer is already 220v? Look at the rating tag.

The link below will give an idea of what you'll need.

  2. I got my adapter/converter kit from Sears. It had adapters/converters for every part of the world. Cuba would use the one labelled 'Caribbean'.

The kit costs about $40...some other places I found were more expensive.

Also, I recently saw the Canadian Tire carried the complete kit too.

Don't go to The Source...it's more expensive.

Which part of Cuba are you going to?

You're going to have an amazing time.

    ¡Buen viaje!

  3. check this site out for plug adapters for Cuba

I bought mine in a hardware store or go on line to purchase.

    good luck)

  4. I would check your dryer first to make sure that it converts from 110 to 220. Some resorts have plugs in the bathrooms that automatically convert for you. If your dryer is powerful than it needs a stronger converter than most that you can buy. Wal-Mart has a kit for $20 but only takes items up to 1000w, your dryer may be more than that. Check your resort listing, check your dryer. You may want to invest in a dual voltage dryer for travel purposes. They have a switch which allows you to go back and forth between 110 (North America) and 220. Just check your setting before you turn it on.

  5. First off, why are you gong to Cuba??

  6. Probably any electronics store, the source, future shop for example.  Many resorts have 220 although some also have 110. Mine is a recoton brand,.

  7. This site tries to give the details for each resort - as there are variations:
