Power is on but nothing else

Question

I am having problems with my everex va4101m. was running fine friday evening. It froze up sometime during the night. on saturday morning I turned it off and back on. The power light comes on and the harddrive light comes on once and off and nothing else. If I am lucky enough the caps lock, num lock, etc might come on and then it start to boot up but will freeze up again. everex told me to remove battery and power cord and press power button 12 times then when starting up f8 to re-install. I was finally able to get it to start with the recovery disk in and did get the message that windows was preparing to start for the first time but once again it froze. Any suggestions???
