downgrade electricity to work in small electronic devices such as cell phones or hand video games and so on. In other words big power plants have huge amounts of energy and only a small amount is used for these devices. How do you downgrade it to work with them?

  1. you can use voltage reguloter will do the job like in cell phone charger.

  2. That's what your charger does.

  3. First the power from the power plants is step down by a transformer to 110V, which is your house voltage. From your outlets the small devices use a linear regulator or another step down circuit to regulate the voltage needed for the device

  4. Transformers and switching regulators are used to reduce the voltage to an appropriate level for these devices. The amount of energy they use is determined by the load they present (resistance / impedance) and therefore the amount of current they draw (amperes).

  5. The basic general rule over here is anything above 30V AC and 60V DC is dangerous (and there are exceptions to the rules)

You have transformers that go from 220kV (50Hz) to 11kV (power lines in the street) then another transformers from 11kV to 400V into your home then your cellphone charger rectifiers and transformes the 240AC to 5DC (all electronics run on DC)
