Power naps????????????????????

what is the quickest one you had? did you feel better afterwards?

i just had a 40 minute one and i feel c**p.

  1. I like 15-20 minute power naps.... longer than that and I often wake up groggy.

It always varies.  They are usually an hour or two.  I'd say that the quickest one that I've had was about five minutes.  I've had quite a few that have been shorter than the hour or two normal (for me) power nap, as of late.  The thing that is very interesting about that is that I've actually been able to slip into some interesting states during that brief amount of time.  If you want to wake up refreshed almost every time, try Lucid Dreaming.  Wow.

  8. theres like 5 stages of sleep.  learned about it in psychology class in high school...  all i really remember is that if you nap, its best to either nap for less then 30 minutes,  or more then 90...   because in the middle you go in to r.e.m. sleep,  and waking up from that sucks..

  10. The trick to a power nap is to sleep long enough to help, but not so long that you feel like c**p, as in your case.

    I once heard a speaker say that the best judge of length for a nap is to sit at your desk (or whenever you're trying to get this nap in at) and hold a pencil.  As you begin to relax, your grip on the pencil will loosen.  When you drop the pencil, it should wake you up and thus end your nap.  That is the right length to get a little sleep, but to avoid you getting into that deeper sleep that just makes you more groggy at the end.
