Power of the senate????

identify one power unique to the senate and explain why the framers gave the senate that power

The Senate has to ratify treaties.  This prevents the president from entering into agreements that the nation may not approve of.  

They must vote to approve impeachment.  If the house passes an impeachment bill the Senate must approve the action for the impeachment to be complete.  This vote failed for Andrew Johnson and Bill Clinton.  

This was set up to distribute checks and balances in government.
