I have on power outlet that is not working in th house. I checked all the fusses in the circuit box and the outlet on the other sideof the wall, (that is a gfi protected outlet) are still working. What's going on. I even took out the outlet to check if thwe outlet is bad, but the wire's have no power?

  1. Turn the power off to the nearest receptacles, open each one and inspect them for a loose or broken wire. The GFCI is a possibility, it may work but the downline protection may have failed. That is where I would start.  If you still have trouble, call a qualified professional electrician.

  2. You will need to determine how the receptacle is fed.  Chances are that the receptacle upstream from the dead one has a wire that has come loose.  TURN THE BREAKER OFF!  Then check the next outlet.  If that one's ok, check the outlet to the other side.  Hope this helps.

  3. You may have more than one  or two GFCI sockets in the loop. I have an external outlet on the side of my house that's a GFCI. It tripped one time and resetting it would not restore the power. So, I reset the interior one on the inside of the wall from the exterior one. Still nothing. Finally, I found a third one in the loop inside a bathroom that had also tripped. Resetting this third one brought them all back to life.
