Power problem PAVILION zv5000 (AMD) sn:CND5190R9W.

Question

Good Afternoon,

Power adapter is working well (voltage checked). Jack connector looks ok. When the power adapter is pluged in, it is not charging the battery at all. System (Windows xp) does not see that power is coming from the pluged power adapter. It says that "Source of power is: Battery". The battery is dead. After half a minute the system is shutting down itself with the cling noise coming from the mother board area.

Is there any possibility to recover from this situation without replacing the main board? Do you have any suggestions to rectify the problem? Notebook is 2 years old.
