Power to contest for the Emaar Middle Park Stakes at Newmarket on Saturday
Power has some real busy time going on this season as on one end A P O’Brien is sending him for the Dubai Dewhurst Stakes on Saturday and then he is also contesting for the Emaar Middle Park Stakes at Newmarket on the same day.
The two-year-old out of Oasis Dream and Frappe broke his maiden at the very first chance provided which was back in May this year.
Power has raced five times this season and out of those he has won four, two with Seamie Heffernan, and one with Ryan Moore and another one with C O’Donoghue.
He achieved a hat trick by winning two races, one at the Curragh and another at the Ascot right after the maiden in May. Each of these races was won under different jockey (mentioned above) each time.
It was at the Curragh in August that A P O’Brien’s Power lost with Seamie Heffernan against Kevin Prendergast’s La Collina who won the race under D P McDonogh.
Power’s performance was not disappointing as he stayed prominent throughout, challenged to lead before halfway, led under two furlong out, was soon ridden and maintained his speed inside the final furlong.
The other two A P O’Brien entries, Reply and After, came fifth and ninth.
J S Bolger’s Parish Hall was eighth with K J Manning. The Richard Hannon entry, Lilbourne Lad stood fourth with Richard Hughes onboard.
The last that he ran and won was at the Curragh again on 10th September where after breaking from the stall he started tracking the leaders in fourth, ridden from two furlong out, was moderate second over one furlong out then closed and led from
over fifty yards out.
He then just stayed on well and eventually stormed through the wire.
The runner up for the race was Mrs. John Harrigton’s Dragon Pulse.
A P O’Brien had three other representations in the race, one of them David Livingston coming third with P J Smullen, Furner’s Green fourth with C O’Donoghue and Vault ridden by Jamie Spencer and finishing second last on a field on nine horses.
Jeremy Noseda’s Talwar finished last and J S Bolger’s Whip Rule came seventh under K J Manning.
Power is being exposed to an opportunity by getting offered the Emaar Middle Park Stakes at Newmarket on Saturday if he wins it then he would enhance his record and chances of targeting another hat trick, once he gets another race after winning this one.
