  1. There are some limitations in openoffice you know. you can convert your PowerPoint to video with PPT to Video

  2. OpenOffice.org Impress currently cannot import audio from Microsoft Powerpoint.

    So don’t try.

From the Impress tutorial at http://documentation.openoffice.org/tuto... :

“● Impress does not support voice-over narration, and thus the audio track is lost after import from PowerPoint. However, since it is possible to assign sound effects to presentation, it is possible to re-record the narration as separate audio files, and attach them to the presentation to recreate the same functionality.”

    And from http://documentation.openoffice.org/manu... :

    “Narration

Voice-over narration is not supported by Impress. There are no settings for multimedia custom animations, such as the ability to play a soundfor the next few slides.

    Sound

Sounds can be added in Impress using Insert > Movies & Sound, however sounds only play for the slide they associated with. You can not insert background music for the whole presentation in Impress.”

  3. Hi BSOD,

There is no way to bring Microsoft Office files such as PowerPoint "flawlessly" into OpenOffice.

OpenOffice converts various aspects of Microsoft's files into its own internal formats. Not everything is handled the same way as it is in Microsoft's product.

The drawing engine is completely different, and the feature set of OpenOffice is a subset of that of the Microsoft products. So although OpenOffice is "compatible" in the sense that it can open and work with many PowerPoint files, most definitely OpenOffice is not "the same" as PowerPoint.
