Powergrooming in gerbils- is it a problem?

They don't fight.

They aren't aggressive.

But one of them does overgroom the other, and now he has a bald spot on his nose.

Is this a problem?

  2. No, the one that overgrooms is showing his dominance. It's actually good they are grooming so often it shows how close they are and at least you know they are clean. The bald spot shouldnt be an issue.

  3. I know that overgrooming in rats is called barbering or power grooming. Unless you are going to show your gerbils which I doubt than its not nessesary to remove the one that is barbering the other. As long as there isnt any bloodshed your fine. I would keep them together.

    my friends hamster just lost all of it hair and it died 3 months after that!!!!!!!!!!!    :(

    we did have a funeral for her poor thing
