Powerscore LSAT Self Study, does it work?

I'm scoring a measly 152 on my LSAT prep tests and I was wondering if anyone has used to Powerscore bibles and seen a drastic improvement in their scores. Basically...do these books work in a self-study environment?

  1. The two PowerScore Bibles were the best books I read for the LSAT, hands down. They will help slow down the test for you so you know what to really look for. Otherwise, you are probably just repeating the same mistakes over and over. As they say, to dig a trench, you have to have the right tools.

Once you have read a ways into those books (at least the first 4 chapters of the LGB and the first 6 chapters of the LRB), start taking PrepTests again. Applying the ideas is a bit challenging at first since it will feel like you are doing 10 things at once, but the more you practice, the easier it will get, and soon enough it will become second nature and your score should start to go up steadily.

    Good luck!

  2. Hey,

I have friends who have applied to Law School within the past two years - present, and the outcomes were not good. Two of my friends who have used Powerscore, scored 145 and 146, and despite them both having high GPAs (both graduated with 3.5), they both were rejected from every Law School in which they applied.

It is a sad truth, yet still inevitable that these things happen. Law Schools are becoming more selective within the recent years, so you may want to vigorously crack the books and Powerscore, but like I mentioned with my friends, it isn't a drastic help.
