Powershot a540 Inner Lens/Shutter?

Question

I was taking pictures on my a540 and it suddenly started only showing part of the image on the left side of the screen. It looks like the inner shutter is not opening correctly. I tried shaking it but now the screen is just black and fuzzy. The camera still takes pictures, they're just black now. Does anyone have any ideas on how to dismantle the camer to get to that inner shutter, maybe it's just stuck?

I have that same camera and there is no way I would  mess around with it!   Call Canon at 1-800-OKCANON and ask what they would suggest you do.  Also if they could estimate how much it would cost to fix it.  

If you try to fix it yourself, you may just make it a lot worse.
