Practice Checkmating?

Question

I am pretty new to chess. I know the rules, where the pieces can and cannot move...and that's pretty much it. I can beat a computer on easy...sometimes...but it usually ends with "Draw Game" -.- Anyone know a site with good chess strategies and practice?

well im not exactly sur where you can get good strategy and stuff like that but like you know runescape? theres this new thing called funord and if you go into it they have a chess game where you play other members like ppl around the world, whoever gets on, and the ppl are really nice...unless you they are mean but i made a few friends while being there and they really helped me out maybe you could try there

Chessmaster 10th edition.

This is the perfect program to learn chess, there is an academy where a grandmaster goes through every move played in some of his games, or you can just practice checkmate in one or two. Its full of information. Check it out.

I agree with the suggestion for Chessmaster, though prefer then newer Grandmaster Edition.  A good book almost entirely devoted to checkmating, is Bobby Fischer teaches chess.  It primarily deals with bank rank checkmates, one of Fischer's favorite tactics.  You should however not neglect general tactics and theory -- without those you aren't likely to be in a position to check mate come the end game.

When I started playing chess, a friend recommended this book to me: "Bobby Fischer Teaches Chess". The prodigy himself teaches you basic maneuvers as well as how to check mate in all kinds of different scenarios. It's quite popular and you should be able to find it at a large book store. It really helped me a lot.

well i know the tips.you always want to start checkmating immediately.on your first play look at your opponent's king and see which color the king is on.then you want to start checkmating with the bishop.so you open the way for the bishop.but the bishop that you move has to be on the same color of the king.and like that in the third move it will be a checkmate and maybe your opponent doesn't have any place to go and then like that you won.you also could checkmate with the queen and that's also a good way to checkmate. if this helps you then add me to your contacts just that i know that this really helps.         good luck.

Hmmm... I know how you can try to checkmate people. You have to try to attack in the center in the beginning, don't move your Queen out too early, castle your King early, and also, when you have a good position, attack the King.
