  1. In the first place, I really don't see why there is a need to get a pair of practice goggles and another different pair for competitions. I used to have many pairs of goggles but i do keep my competitive ones rather nicely so that there are no scratches and also its a more streamlined and smaller one compared to what I usually use. But you can use the same model ones for both.

However, I don think it would be too comfortable to use these kind of goggles for training. But there is no right and wrong to this. I know of many people who uses the same goggles. Using a new and different pair during competitions can be difficult to adjust to the comfortability of it and many other matters.

The main point is, choose a pair that you will feel most comfortable for long duration during training and it doesn't really matter what brand it is. The trusted brands that I know of for training and competitions are TYR, Speedo, Arena and one or 2 other brands. But like i said, brand name is not a matter. Comfortability is.

What you can do is, see what your other teammates are wearing and I am sure everyone has multiple pairs. You can try swapping or try using it for a session and see how you feel about it. Then make your decision to buy it or not!

Good luck in finding a comfortable pair of goggles! ( ask your coach for recommendation )

  2. I would not opt for swedes for training.  Get another pair of vanquishers.  I used to train wearing the tyr racetech.  They are big with wide lenses.  Then I wore a small goggle for racing, the swedes, but I don't find them comfortable.  There really isn't a need for training goggles and racing, though I did have them.  The racing ones, again I was careful not to scratch up.
