Pradnya Gadre-Prajakta Sawant bag Women’s Doubles crown at Senior National Badminton Championships
India’s talented female shuttlers, Pradnya Gadre and Prajakta Sawant, have won the Women’s Doubles crown after crushing Balan Aparna and N. Sikki Reddy in the final battle of 76th Senior National Badminton Championships, on Wednesday, January
25, in India.
Pradnya and Prajakta, who were placed at number two in the Women’s Doubles seeding of the event, showed their elevated class as they toppled the top seeds, Balan and Reddy without dropping a single set.
The lower ranked Pradnya and Prajakta proved that they are the best in business as they outclassed their rivals in straight games by taking just 35 minutes. With this victory over the top seeds, Pradnya and Prajakta have become the new national champions
of India.
It was a straight-set contest in which both sides employed their elevated skills to win the title. However, Pradnya and Prajakta remained lucky in winning this final clash with a tight margin in two games.
Right from the starting points of the title match, both pairs were focused and played positive game. They employed aggressive strokes coupled with net kills and made the fight entertaining and exciting for the crowd.
Until the break in opening half of this Women’s Singles final contest, both pairs remained close as no side could take advantage of a reasonable lead.
After the break, the battle again remained equal as both sides did not miss any opportunity to score points. At the ending phase of the opening game, Pradnya and Prajakta played a few terrific strokes and remained successful in taking the set with a close
score of 21-19.
In the second game, Balan and Reddy tried their best to put pressure on their rivals, but failed to take lead as Pradnya and Prajakta were positive in their play. Both pairs were close on score board until the one-minute interval.
After the break, the crowd became excited as both pairs were playing at their best and the score reached at 20-20.
At this crucial stage, Pradnya and Prajakta managed to score two points in a row and won the deciding game with a 22-20 score on the board.
This Women’s Doubles title match ended with the victory of Pradnya and Prajakta, who ended the fight with a close margin of 21-19 and 22-20.
