http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750’s left-arm leg-spinner, Pragyan Ojha, was relieved after being named in India’s 15-member touring party announced on Wednesday, for the Sri Lanka itinerary, which includes five One Day Internationals and a one-off T20 International.
“Obviously, there is a sense of relief that I am back in the ODI scheme of things,” said the 25-year-old Orissa-born spinner, who has not played a One Day International for India since 2010.
“I have been working very hard. I would like to let my performance do the talking for me. My aim is to perform consistently and play in all three formats for a long time,” he added further.
Ojha’s last ODI appearance, incidentally, also came against the Islanders in August 2010, at Dambulla. The left-armer said that after having earned a recall into the limited overs side, he aims to hit the ground running, given he
makes the starting XI in the opening ODI of the series, which gets underway in Hambantota, on July 21, 2012.
“The new season starts with this tour. Irrespective of the format, if you hit form early, it helps you to carry on with the momentum,” said the left-arm orthodox bowler.
The experienced but out of favour http://www.senore.com/Cricket/R-Ashwin-c2228 to spearhead the spin attack. Ojha, 25, has always
delivered well when bowling in tandem with Ashwin and would be happy if he gets a chance to prove his mettle with the Tamil Nadu spinner operating from the other end.
“When a quality bowler like Ashwin operates from the other end, you also get confidence and can up the ante,” said the left-arm spinner, who played for http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mumbai-c820 Indians in the Indian Premier League's fifth season, and picked up nine wickets in nine games,
at an average of 24.44.
Ojha has to date played 16 One Day Internationals for India, taking 20 wickets at 30.05. However, his Test statistics are quite commendable, where he has claimed 62 wickets from just 14 matches.
