Pramac Racing calls Damian Cudlin as replacement for Loris Capirossi – MotoGP news
Pramac Racing has called Damian Cudlin as a substitute for the injured Loris Capirossi for the upcoming Japanese Grand Prix.
The Pramac team will be racing with two riders at the Grand Prix of Japan. Randy de Puniet is confident to finish the event in progressive manner.
Loris Capirossi was sidelined after being diagnosed with dislocated right shoulder following the crash at Motorland Aragon. The Italian rider crashed after eight laps.
Randy de Puniet said, “I really want to finish out this season as well as possible. I’ve been unfortunate in many races and I’ve committed errors in others. But we worked well in the last race at Aragón and I hope to also start Motegi off on the right foot.”
The Frenchman said that Motegi is one of his favourite circuits. De Puniet has scored some good results at the Japanese venue including a second place in MotoGP class and a third position in 250cc.
The World Endurance Championship rider Damian Cudlin has had one experience of the MotoGP series. The Australian rider had an opportunity to race in Moto2 category during the German event at Sachsenring.
Damian Cudlin said, “It's hard to put into words what this opportunity means to me. I've dreamed about starting in MotoGP since I was a boy, and until now it's been just that - a dream. Now it's become a reality and to be honest, I'm still in shock! I'm
under no illusions about how difficult this race will be.”
The most recent experience for Cudlin was testing a Marc VDS machine powered by BMW S1000RR engine. The Suter MotoGP 2012 prototype will make its debut under CRT regulations in 2012.
Other than testing a Suter BMW 2012 machine, Cudlin has no prior experience of riding an original MotoGP prototype. Moreover, the Aussie rider has not ever been to the Twin Ring Motegi circuit.
Cudlin is not expecting to do anything extraordinary at Suzuka but hopes to perform at his best. The Australian rider is aiming to fulfil his old dream to ride as a premier class rider.
